IN PICTURES: Hollywood comes to Copenhagen

Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne and his costars in The Danish Girl are filming in Copenhagen. See photos of the actors in Nyhavn here.
Nyhavn is already Copenhagen’s most photographed spot but on Wednesday even more cameras were out than usual – both the professional and amateur kind.
Visitors flocked to Nyhavn to catch a glimpse of the filming of The Danish Girl, a Hollywood film about Vejle native Einar Wegener, a transgender woman who was one of the first in the world to undergo sex reassignment surgery.
Wegener went under the name of Lile Elbe after completely the surgery and was the subject of the 2000 novel The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff.
The film adaption of the novel features actor Eddie Redmayne in the starring role. Redmayne is fresh off his Academy Award for Best Actor for playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
He and his colleagues are currently filming in Copenhagen, where Nyhavn had to be temporarily transformed to fit with the film’s setting in the 1920s.
