Dane added to US terror list
For the first time ever, the US Department of State has included a Danish citizen on its list of wanted foreign terrorists.
The US State Department on Wednesday officially designated Abdessamad Fateh, a citizen of Denmark, as a foreign terrorist fighter. “Abdessamad Fateh, also known as Abu Hamza, is a member of a Scandinavia-based network of extremists allegedly linked to al-Qa’ida, and has traveled to Syria,” a State Department press release states. According to Jyllands-Posten, Fateh is well-known within Islamic circles in both Copenhagen and Aarhus and has shared expressed his support for Isis online. He has an official address listed just outside of Aarhus. Police in Aarhus and Copenhagen declined Jyllands-Posten’s request for comment and the State Department did not release additional information about why Fateh was added to its terror list.
