Scandi Six: Danish autumn wardrobe essentials

Scandi Six: Danish autumn wardrobe essentials

As the weather cools, there are a few wardrobe and household items that will make the transition from summer to winter as comfortable and cosy as possible.

Coat
You’re not yet in need of a heavy coat but you need more than your trusty denim jacket. Danish autumn is notable for its cold rain and occasional stinging winds, so you need something that can stand up to those conditions. This wool blend coat from Samsøe & Samsøe is sturdy enough to keep you warm but won’t be overwhelming.Photo: Samsøe & Samsøe / Zalando.dk
Scarf
Scarves are a year-round accessory in Denmark; only the thickness and material change. For fall, a light wool knit or cashmere blend is perfect. These choices from Besos Scarves will keep you snug and stylish.Photo: Besos Scarves
Boots
A new season, a new excuse to buy a pair of boots. These knee-high boots by Apair are a great mix of warm leather and breathable fabric. As useful in the rain as they are in the cold, these boots are a great transition piece for fall to winter. Photo: Apair / Zalando.dk
Bag
For some reason, I seem to carry more around in the colder months. I guess it’s because we need lot of clothing items for layering. I go from a small crossbody bag to a larger tote like this one from Everie.Photo: Everie
Jumper
It’s amazing what a good jumper can do. Throw it under a raincoat or windbreaker on the less cold days or layer it up with your scarf and coat on chillier days or in the evenings. I love that with a stylish jumper, you can keep wearing your spring or summer clothes and just add a heavy knit on top. At the moment, neoprene and sports-luxe materials are in as well as more classic materials like wool or cashmere, so your choices are endless! We love the casual look of this one by Ganni.Photo: Ganni / Zalando.dk
Bits 'n' Bobs
There are a few things I like to make sure are in the house when autumn rolls around: these candle holders by Normann Copenhagen are the perfect way to hygge-up your home. Colder weather means dry skin, so I keep this moisturizing hand cream on the sink and use it after every wash. Last, the heater in my building doesn’t really get going until November, so I make sure to have a hot water bottle to put under my covers before going to sleep. Toasty warm!Photo: Normann Copenhagen / Ren / Harbour Housewares
