Behind the scenes access
There’s nothing more interesting than seeing the mechanisms behind Fashion Week. It looks so glamorous and easy, but a helluva lot of work goes into each show, event and opening. Not only did we get great footage and see another side of CPHFW, we also met some incredible people. Not everyone has a chance to go behind the scenes, so we’ve documented it for you! Check out the articles at Scandinavia Standard.Photo: Freya McOmish, Scandinavia Standard
Dansk Collective
Hosted by independent fashion magazine and production company DANSK, this small curated showroom displayed some of the best, most adventurous and exciting designers Denmark has to offer. We loved seeing the new Armoire de Femme line (branching from the crisp Armoire d’Homme), pastel watercolors from Stine Goya, the dramatic silhouettes of Freja Dalsjø and incredible yellow gold creations from jeweler Orit Elhanati. What a dream!Photo: Freya McOmish, Scandinavia Standard
Barbara i Gongina runway show
Sleek, dark, artistic and a little bit inscrutable, Barbara i Gongini is the Faroese-Danish design house that’s been producing not only fantastic Scandinavian style but also runway shows that rival any performance art. We got to be backstage and see the show and bear witness to professionalism and creative intelligence. This has been a highlight for us before and Barbara continues to impress.Photo: Freya McOmish, Scandinavia Standard
Emerging Designers
Sure, the big shows are fun and perhaps more exclusive. But understanding what’s happening on the ground floor of fashion design is a chance to look into the future and see what’s up-and-coming. We especially loved the shows of Maikel Tawadros and Nicklas Kunz. This kind of creativity is what keeps fashion interesting!Photo: Freya McOmish, Scandinavia Standard
Copenhagen street style
We love the casual but impeccably tailored style that seems to be the birthright of Danes. Front row of the fashion shows isn’t the only place to catch the latest and best in fashion; everyone who‘s out and about contributes to the vibe. There’s something about catching people on the street that imbues the clothes with a freshness you can’t find in the magazines.Photo: Josef Brock, Scandinavia Standard
