According to the Capital Region’s official website, Invitations to get vaccinated will arrive in qualifying residents’ e-Boks in the coming days, but residents born between 1985 and 1993 will be able to book appointments at vacciner.dk starting today.
The additional vaccination appointments were made possible by Denmark’s purchase of 1.1 million Pfizer doses from the Romanian government at the end of June.
There are nine vaccination centres in the Capital Region. With the influx of new appointments, regional authorities request patience with the vacciner.dk platform and recommend checking other vaccination centres if you are unable to find an appointment at the nearest vaccination centre.
Children between the ages of 12 and 15 in Denmark’s Capital Region are expected to receive their invitations to be vaccinated later this month. Parents of the target group will be notified by E-Boks.
Deputy director from the Capital Region of Denmark’s Emergency Preparedness, Helene Bliddal Døssing, said they have hired more than 300 additional vaccination staff in the past week to handle the additional appointments.
Speeding up after several setbacks
Denmark originally anticipated all residents would have the option to be vaccinated by early summer. However, Denmark’s vaccinations calendar was pushed back several times after the Danish health authorities withdrew both the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines from the national vaccination programme.
In May, a new scheme came into effect that allowed people in Denmark to choose to have the Covid-19 vaccines from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.
On July 2nd, following the purchase of vaccines from Romania, Denmark’s National Board of Health (Sundhedsstyrelsen) moved up its vaccination schedule for the entire country by two weeks.
Denmark aims to have everyone who wishes to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by August 29th.
The North Jutland region has also announced the addition of 80,000 vaccination appointments to its calendar. By July 6th, it expects all residents aged 16 and up to have received invitations via e-Boks.
