Tour de France to close one of Copenhagen's busiest streets

The city of Copenhagen is to shut down one of its busiest roads for four days when the Tour de France comes to Denmark.
HC Andersens Boulevard will be closed from June 30 until July 3 in 2021, while a series of events is held on Rådhuspladsen, the square outside Copenhagen City Hall.
"A very big task awaits us," Steffen Rasmussen, the city official tasked with coordinating the race's launch, told the TV2lorry website. "It is one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Our job is to make sure that it is both a good sporting event and one that the Copenhageners will be happy to have in the city."

Denmark is the 10th country to host the Grand Départ, with the first three stages in the long distance bicycle race taking place in Copenhagen, on the island of Funen, and in the south of Jutland.
The event is expected to draw some half a million spectators and the City Authorities plan to spend 25m Danish kroner on the event.
The first Grand Départ took place in Amsterdam in 1954, since when 55 towns and cities have hosted the event.
Although the details have yet to be decided, the cyclists are expected to take a route around the city's historic centre. The teams and their riders will also be introduced on stage ahead of the start of the race.
