Ho ho hot! The annual World Santa Claus Congress came to Copenhagen in the midst of a July heatwave.

While most people in Copenhagen stripped down to just the bear essentials to deal with the July heat, others donned Santa suits and elf hats for the annual World Santa Claus Congress.

As they have since 1957, Santas from around the world came to Copenhagen to spread some summertime Christmas cheer. The congress serves as a forum and social event for Santas, who can trade tips on how Christmas is celebrated in their part of the world.

The Santas went sightseeing throughout the capital on Monday and Tuesday before getting down to serious Santa business at Bakken amusement park.

This year's congress came as Denmark was experiencing a heatwave that saw temperatures top 27C in Copenhagen.

So how did the Santas cope with that heat? See for yourself in our photo gallery.
