The biggest ever Copenhagen Pride peaked in grand style over the weekend as the annual parade worked its way through the heart of the city.

Some 30,000 participants are estimated to have taken part in this year’s parade, and the 7,092 who formally signed up to take part was the biggest number ever recorded.

Copenhagen Police estimated that some 200,000 onlookers and merrymakers joined the annual celebration of LGBT rights.

The party went off without a hitch, police said.

“There weren’t any incidents or episodes at all along the route or near City Hall Square,” Rasmus Skovsgård told news agency Ritzau.

Police had said prior to the event that security would be increased in reaction to the June mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando that left 49 people and the gunman dead.

Organizers said they couldn’t be happier with the way this year’s Pride events turned out.

“We are absolutely stunned by how many Copenhageners embrace Pride and how much they show their support for diversity and the values inherent in Pride,” spokesman Thomas K. Rasmussen told Ritzau.
