Around 2,000 protesters, many of them of Kurdish descent, took to the streets of Copenhagen on Thursday evening for a peaceful protest calling for intervention in the Syrian town of Kobane, which is under siege by terrorists from Isis.

The demonstration started at the Town Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) and ended at the parliament building, Christiansborg.

Chanting “Help Kobane now” and “Stop Isis now,” the peaceful demonstration was in sharp contrast to a mass brawl that broke out in Hamburg, Germany on Monday night as Islamists and Kurds clashed in the streets. Some German politicians are now calling for a ban on further Kurdish demonstrations
